I just bought a SMC Progressive kit. Installed it last weekend....but haven't let her rip yet. The directions say to add a 50/50 mix of denatured alcohol and distilled water. Should I stick with these instructions.....or can I run 100% alcohol for better performance?.........or even go with methanol?

Contact Steve at SMC for pump compatability issues with different alcohols.
In other words.. the issue of what type used has to do with the pump the system has. Period. Using the wrong fluid/mixture can harm the pump.
What fluid to be used with what pump... the real answer lies in calling who made/sold the pump and asking.
If you cannot get a suitable answer from the vendor.. then come back and post. Dont take this the wrong way please. But this particular question comes up all the time on these forums.. and it is always best to get input from the source.
If you use the wrong fluid.. and your system gets issues.. there is only one person to blame. If you wish to blow muriatic acid, mixed with nitro and methanol.. and throw some acetone/hydrogen peroxide

Same thing.. if someone gets a clear answer from Steve on what type can be used.. then please post it. For reference. And state your style of pump..
The original SMC kit pumps were to be run on denatured with Klotz. Using Methanol would drastically reduce the life of that pump. There have been changes to his system/pump styles over the years.. this is why I say... Call Steve
