stock for stock a ZR1 will waste a stock TTA.. they were running 12's stock. all ZR1's are maunals so driver is a bigger part of the equation to why you could have beat a ZR1. GM wasn't marketing their top sports car against their own brands so don't you think it would have been bad to have their marqee sports car out HP'ed by a regal? with the said they didn't rate the HP to be top dog over the TRs but they did for marketing against the other sports car competition...porshe, ferrari, and whatever else was out there at the time. people that wanted to buy vette bought them for the total package, people that bought GN's wanted to go really fast and didn't care so much to pull a 1g in the twisties or stop on a dime. I'm sure i'll get jumnped all over for this post but thats just the way i see and i dont see what the big thing is, they are two cars meant to do two different things. In the 1989 Car & Driver, they tested the 89 Turbo T/A, but the Corvette ZR-1 was on the cover, titled "Corvette from Hell" with Jason in a hockey mask climbing out. The TTA was bumped in favor of the ZR-1. The ZR-1 wasn't officially released or actually in production until 1990. So the 89 TTA was the fastest domestic production car for 1989 but the ZR-1 which wasn't actually available bumped it for the cover spot. Did someone in the Vette camp have any hand in this? Personally, I've street raced a ZR-1. They may be real fancy, but not so quick.![]()
