67 Precision ball bearing turbo

Has anyone noted excessive side play in the turbo wheel one these BB turbos? It will not contact the housing but I can wiggle the wheel about .002 This turbo is brand new and Precision did not have any answers. They are saying to run it. Has anyone else noticed this. I am wondering if this is normal for the BB turbo as Precision seems to be indicating

I have my CPT66BB NIB waiting to go on my motor, shaft is very tight with no play. My first BB turbo, but my guess would be shaft play is NOT normal....

I think this topic has been discussed many times with ball bearing turbos but as a former sales rep for PTE, I can assure you the Garrett dual ball bearing turbos WILL have SOME shaft play and it is NORMAL. Without going into major details...the center cartridge is designed to have the shafts ride on a thin film of oil. When the turbos are brand new, there's not much oil in them and that's why you get the slack. When you run oil through them, the slack is then taken up and all is well. This should be a sticky!:biggrin:
