I just read an article about Garth Hill who ran this number in a single turbo Buick powered 1923 Ford T altered, suposedly he had ties to Ingersoll, retired in Mid 80s, anyone ever hear of him?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill, yes I've heard of Garth from my dad who really followed this stuff back in the 80's and here is what I was able to find on the 'net............

"The turbo altered quick car is the Garth Hill-driven Hill & Williams’s single turbo 257 cubic inch Buick V-6 23-T AA/AT. The car ran 7.105 at 198.28 back in the eighties when the index was much softer. Hill & Williams switched to a straight six and ran F/EA until they retired."

Hmm I heard of Garth Brooks and Faith Hill oh wait its from the 80's its Garth from Knight Rider Michael Knight's evil twin
I do remember they put some of Kitt into an old car

Bill:

I tend to remember cars better than persons. If this is the car I am thinking about, it ran AA/AT and held the record in that class for years. The guy is from Michigan, could be Flint, Michigan. I saw the car in 1985. It had a very similar set up to Ingersoll but with a single turbo and if I remember correctly no intercooler. Don’t know what happen to him or the car.

Garth lives about 5 miles from me, Mt Morris MI. His car did have a water inercooler. There is a picture of it on page 26 of the power source book. When buick got out of the indy stuff, he got a sponsorship from chrysler to run the old jeep straight six. Took runner up at Indy second year out. After that Chrysler pulled out and he sold his car and retired. Know he is building soom sort of bonnieville salt flats motorcycle.
