Hey all.. STumbled across a 1970 Conv Skylark Custom (i think , badges on upper door panels)
It was semi disguised as a GS..had a broken GS grill, hood(with good dent in it), and GS emblems on front fenders..Also has the rally wheels..
Dual exhaust , Buick 350 4bl carb..suposed original numbers motor
Car is pretty rough in the rear..suposed floor repair has been started..Bumbers need re-chrome.
Pretty intense quarter repair would be needed if not complete replacement..
Motor was suposed to have been running, but needed rockers and shafts???
A second 350 parts motor is being thrown in ..
Interior looks like white roll plete style..very dirty..
Most likelysoft top repair.
kind of a bsket case, but almost all there

what would something like this be worth.? or just keep on walking by? lol.. just entertaining the idea for now

Thanks

It has been over 20 years since I last restored a Skylark conv. That one had a good body with no rust, but in sad shape like the one you describe.

Needing body work, paint, interior, lots of mechanical work and MANY other items, I don't see how you could end up with a sorta-nice car for less than $30K. This would mean that your many hours of labor would be almost free.

Does the top mechanism work? If not, that will be an expensive and frustrating experience, expecially for the first time doing it.:frown:

So my opinion is that you would end up with a lot more invested in the project that it would be worth in the near future.:)

Thanks for the reply Nick..The first time I had seen the car , the top was up..Then today it had been opened, but looked like maybe it was stuck, so they covered it up..Hmm, I will double check on the top. Maybe I should slap in the asking price..Its right around $1000, with a clean title. If I knew the bulk was only in the quarters..hmmm

a rust free body and 30 thousand for a nice ride. who stuck you. if your looking for show quality yea obviously. if you patch what little rust is there, assuming you can weld, or know some one who can, you can have yourself a pretty decent car for more then less half that. you decide what the car needs to make you happy driving it. not what other people think. if you think you can weld in a piece of metal into the floor or trunk do it. if you think it will clean up and look good to you, believe me you will get your props what ever you do if you think it's worth saving and in your budget
