I have searched this site for info about this and all the post are very misleading. Do you need a deep pan or stock pan extension to use this filter? Can a person just go and purchase a 700-4r filter push it in and bolt up a stock 200-4r pan and be good to go?

I can, BUT

You must cut 1/4 in. off both ends of the 1/4 in. tubing in the valve body and I cover the 4th pressure switch with 2 layers of heat shrink. Move the spring clip to another hole so the filter allows the pan to go all the way up against the case. Make sure it is straight as to not obstruct the dip stick.

The pan usually pulls up without too much resistance. Def be careful and watch what is happening, some go on harder than others. You could double up the gasket or use a spacer, I believe CK sells one. I haven't need to yet. I turn the filter a little to not crush the switch. This one fit no problem with the stock pan.
