When installing a 700 R4 filter in a stock 200 R4 pan do you have to cut the 1/4 tube or can you just put the filter on with no changes:confused:.I understant covering the 4th gear switch with rubber or heat shrink so it won't short out against the filter:eek:.Thanks again

Kevin:biggrin:

Not quite a 1/4" and a deep pan or a plate will help. CK performance sells the plate, gaskets, and filter as a kit or you can shave about an 1/8" off and use the stock pan.

Yes

Take the tube out and cut 3/8 in. off the long end only. When reinstalling the hold down clip--swing it toward the long end and fold it over the tubing with pliers. Then tighten bolt--this will pull down on the tube holding it in bore tighter. And yes you will need to cover the 4th pressure switch. I use heat shrink. Best of luck.

So either way you have to cut the tube to use a stock pan and a 700R4 filter?I also saw in my search some use 2 gaskets on the filter tube end:confused:Thanks for the opinions:D

The one I use --I cut 1/4-3/8 off long end---I use an extra sealing ring on neck of filter--twice the sealing area (insurance). BTW, when you put the pan on it will not go flush to pan rail--once bolts are tighten it will pull up.

Thanks I thought the extra seal was to lower the front of the filter:confused:I should have the pan off on the weekend and it will make more sense:o

There's Info/Mods here "Donnie Wangs" site on using the 700R4 Filter, 3/4 way down page. >> THM 200-4R
There's another thread on TB.com about it also but, I never remember to bookmark it. :o:mad:

I picked up a filter for a 700R4 today, the part that will be going against the valve body is plastic! I don't see how any wire touching this would short out, unless maybe the outer edge of the filter touching it could short out. The bottom is tin and the edges are crimped over onto the plastic part of the filter.

The edge of the filter has the metal lower portion crimped on and will touch the terminal.
