Hey Guys,
Looking for tips to put a decent 700 together.
Basic build stuff, and upgrades.

This one is just going behind a pretty stock 350 Chevy in an S10 Blazer so only moderate abuse.

I've built a handful of these but really just a teardown, inspect, replace clutches and seals, and reassemble, no mods.

Here's what I got,
rebuild kit including Borg parts,
all new frictions and steels
Corvette Servo
it came with 2 new 3rd accums?
Alto band
new filter, thrusts, bushings
TransGo reprog kit
.500 boost valve

Will that pretty much do it?

Any other parts I need. It is an 88 core.

If it was for anything more powerful i would install the beast sun shell but I think stock will be OK here.

Any tips for the teflon rings, like anyway to install them without the special tools and sizers. I can borrow the tools but just wondering here.

ATSG manual talks about installing a couple of techpak orifce plugs..
Should I pretty much do everything the ATSG says, or are there some things to avoid?

Also the 3-4 pack, should I use thick steels or stock?
get the kit from GM with the steels and frictions, etc..?

Also,
at what point are 5 pinion planets needed?

Thanks
Jake

i'd get the beast sun shell

for insurance purposes. The stock sun shell breaks on normal vehicles all the time. You'll thank your self later. borrow the tools for the solid tefflon rings for the input housing. You probably want to install a new case bushing {the 4l60-e has a bronze case bushing it's a little harder bushing than the babbit}.

The new accum pistons are always a good idea {they always wear out in the pin bore area or are really suffed up in the seal area}. A nice upgrade for the low reverse clutch is the 4l60-e steels with the turbulator holes. They also have these turbulator hole steels for the reverse input clutch. I'd stay with 6 clutches on the 3-4 clutch, but instead of the tan clutches they give you in the kit, I really like the 4l60-e high energy clutches here {kind of a greenish gray color}. Don't forget the .296 reverse\intermediate boost valve.

Where does the astg manual have you putting these orifice plugs? If they are in the 1-2 and 3-4 accums, i wouldn't put them in if you are going to put the shift kit in. Now they do make an orifice for the reverse input piston that is a good upgrade.

This is the stuff i have off the top of my head. it's 5 am, i'm going back to bed. :D

I thought of 1 more thing.

Usually to set endplay a #70 washer under the input housing bearing does the trick. You may want to grab a #71 also, but 9 times out of 10 the #70 does the trick.
