going to purchase a 70mm turbo.i would like to hear feedback on both turbos, such as pro`s and cons to each.also best price on each "vew"

me too im in the market as well for a 70mm turbo! Thinking 71GTQ but who knows. Any info would be sweet.

I believe you re gonna need a very high stall for a 70 gtq version- less stall for a BB version-i have both.

ive got a 71 gtq , i would recommend a 3500 stall with a brake ! thats my opinion , also these turbos seem to work at high boost levels , in other words be prepared to run 24 p.s.i on the low end ! thats when they start working!

would a street driven car, 20psi, alky, 3600 stall art car, but no trans break work for a 71gtq?

I would plan to run 25 at the drags tho with some slicks of course.

FWIW we found the 70GTQ makes as much power as th1 71GTQ aand spools a little quicker

"Thats when they start working!"

Otto

Does this mean that I couldn't run a 70BB gtq on the street without frying my tires off everytime I take off because its not really going to start working until 24lbs!
Just curious, thanks
Brad

No what he is saying is the speet spot of the turbo is in the mid 20# range were it may make a few more hp per pound than at lower levels.
When it comes on, Have good tires. My big M/T Drag Radials put about 100 ft down at 70MPH!

That's what I like to hear! I've done the "spinning the tires thing" at 60-65mph with my old school TE-70 turbo. My tires were pure radial though.

I am soooo close to slapping down the card for a 70GTQ. It's a matter of finding a vendor to buy from.

I second that, I plan on stepping it up very soon too. BTW very nice Malibu.

if you street drive muck stay with a P trim. The Q are a race turbo and will need about 3800 to spool. Go with the dual BB P and you can have crazy spool with a 3400.

Thanks for the clarification just trying to learn about these things correctly.
Brad :D
Brad,
Listening to Otto is not going to get you there. ;)

AS louie has shown he has not listened to me and look where he is :)

70 GTQ with 3400 stall unlocked, it is kind of lazy out of the hole but 10.8 @ 130 mph and 20# of boost, I can't complain. What kind of heads are you going to run?

Finding a vendor shouldn't be too tough, check out the signature at the bottom......

As for upgrading from a P to a Q trim, no problem, but I would have to wonder if selling the P and starting from scratch may be the better idea. If the turbo needs rebuilding then that is an option.

Sorry for asking, but I could not find anyone selling the 70BB online?

I am considering the 67 or the 70BB this summer but can not find the price on the web.
