Is it normal for the negative terminal on the battery to get smoken HOT, when cranking over the motor???

Sounds like a bad connection or bad starter. What kind of draw is starter pulling on battery when cranking?

Nothing wrong with the starter, will have to hook up a gauge to it. Are U thinking bad cable connection at the block???

Could be . I would pull all cables and clean them off and reinstall them. Check the amp draw.
