I was thinking of running one, but if I ever decided to race at Bristol or Bowling Green, I couldnt be in the TSM class. But if you dont plan on running there, why not. It should be more than enough to blow the crank right out of stock block car  or even blow those hypers apart :D.

That's a big turbo if your plan on running it on the street. Your going to have to run a pretty loose converter. Not good for the street. A 70 series would be a good turbo for the street/strip car and can get you into the 9's if that's where you want to go.

I run a TA66 right now and it works good on the street. Im running a 3400 stall N/L. Im getting ready to sell this turbo ( January ) and get a PT70 so I can be competitive in TSM.

GOOD luck

I would consider it extreme but I always wanted to see how it would run. Even if I blow the Hypers out the bottom:D

I have a ball bearing T-72. It spools WAY faster than my TE-62 did. I have a 3600 stall non-lock converter that is almost unnoticeable compared to stock on the street. I'm STILL breaking in the rebuild, so I'm only running 20 psi right now. Personally I think that if you have the money to get the ball bearing option, there is no turbo (well, maybe extreme cases) that is too big for the street now. I did go to the track a few weeks ago with pump gas, 20 psi boost, and TRUE street tires (18 inch tires at that). Running half throttle through half track, and a slow off idle launch (2.5 sec. 60 ft times :D) And ran 13.9's at 112 MPH. This is also with the car running so rich past half track the FAST system was showing a 9.81 A/F ratio which is as rich as the O2 sensor see's, so who knows how rich it really was. I'll be going again ina few weeks with the slicks this time to do a little MORE tuning. I want to at least get back into the mid 120's. Then start fine tuning.

I was thinking of upgrading my turbo to something in the 70s or 80s, which one would everyone recommend? What do people think Precision Turbo & Engine vs. Turbonetics?

Here is a list of what is on the upgrade list:
· 70s BB turbo maybe 80s
· Fel-Pro fuel management system
· Big Mouth cold air kit (4")

You'll probably want to add some new injectors to that list too. 55's were too small for my 72. And with the FAST system, you can run the low impedance injectors with no problem. Also, I have no problems idling my 83's as I've heard others have. You'll LOVE the FAST system once you get used to it. As for the turbo, I wouldn't really say you need anything more than a 70-72. I still haven't turned the boost up to the sweet spot of this turbo. I'm going to put a few more miles on the rebuild before I do. And as for the cold air kit. I wish he had it out before I made my own. Although I love the way mine came out. I'm running the Ramchargers 4" MAF pipe to a plumbing 90* elbow (for a toilet actually), and then have my 14" K&N poking through the plastic of the inner fender well where the original airbox once was. Then some sheetmetal down underneath with my cold air air dam and voila, my own cold air kit. Also add an IAC relocator to your list because it's a SEVERE PITA getting the 4" MAF pipe on with the IAC in the stock orientation.

Oh, and I just noticed you have a 2800 stall converter. You can try that with a BB turbo, but that may be pushing it for a 70 series turbo BB or not. :)

I 2nd theres no to big of a turbo. Most of these cars are not daily drivers so put the biggest turbo on your motor can handle. In my case the pt88 works great and I would love to see one of you guys with one of these on a stock blocked car. Precision has them on sale right now for like 1500.00. I think the internals would turn to dust. :D
