Hey All,

I originally had a Stage 2 T31 69 trim Turbine and stock garrett .63 housing in my turbo. A nice chunk of spark plug went through my turbine damaging it and the housing. So I was planning on upgrading the turbine to something a little better but I wanted the opinions first.

I was thinking of a Stage 3 T31 76 trim turbine, with a 4 bolt GARRETT .78 A/R Divided T3 Exhaust housing, But worry this might affect spool too much.... I didnt plan to go to external gate since the boost is fairly low, but im sure it would help spool up. I have all parts in stock so cost doesnt effect the choice.

oh yea, this is a 61 wheel in a stock housing.

whats your thoughts?

Post your goals. I dont see any reason for a 4 bolt housing unless your going low 10's or faster and need to buy a downpipe. The 69 trim turbine has been 131+mph in a PT54 and ive been almost 125mph with it myself in a PT54. A p trim is a good idea if you are looking for 125+ but will need a little looser converter and more boost to see a gain

So, is this a Limit Engineering TA61 turbo?

I agree with bison, what are your goals? 110mph in the 1/4? 120? 130? Etc, etc.

If this is on a Buick with 3-bolt headers, you don't want to convert to T3, especially not a divided T3 on these motors. That's actually a worse design than the Buick 3-bolt on this application. Back pressure city.
If you're goals are slower than 128mph in the 1/4, then the 3-bolt Buick style housing will get the job done.

I repeat, No Garrett T3 divided, 4-bolt discharge housing, on a 231 CI Buick V6 please.

Tell us more about your combo that this turbo will be for, and your goals. And we can give you a lot more options.

Turbo is a home hybrid, like a TA61 .... but not

pontiac 301 housing with GT61 wheel,360 thrust, journal bearing, carbon seal and had a stage 2 T31 69 trim wheel with stock garrett 3 bolt housing.
I am using a carb turbo system, so boost caps at around 21lbs as im on the ragged edge of detonation there with the discharge temps.

My goals are low 10s but anything is better than 14s

engine is a stock 109 with wieand intake and MSD BTM6
trans is a 700R4
rear has 3.42s
275-65R15
2658lbs

no offical track data yet, as ive been just making full launches on an airstrip. I had bad carb slosh one day and leaned a cylinder enough to chew a plug and send crap through the turbine. I had the 76 trim wheel, and twin scroll housing from another project, and was curious if i could get fixed, and up and running again quickly.

But if you say thats a bad Idea, then i will just order another stage 2 turbine and precision housing.

A.j.
