How fast has anyone gone with a 76GTQ and what was needed to make that combo work?

I believe a PT76 GTQ with a .85 A/R 3-bolt housing has gone into the 9 teens with a purpose built 274 Stage II with GN-1s, BGC intake, big solid roller cam, big front mount IC, 84#ers, Fast system, in a 3650# Turbo T. This is the largest turbo that is legal for TSE (Turbo Street Eliminator) class at the GS Nationals. I know Laz and Roy have gone faster in TSL trim with their 76mm turbo.
Are you building a car to compete in one of the classes, or just to go as fast as possible?

Patrick

It is just to go fast. It is in a 64 skylark with a 3.8 stage 1 block,250ci,224 224 roller cam,XFI by Cal,83lb injectors,GN1 14 bolt heads, BGC intake, and ATR headers. The car weighs in at 3180 empty,so with me 3380 race ready. I still have to buy a good fuel pump to supply what I need. I do have the GTQ76 turbo but I just wanted to know what to expect.

Sweet sounding setup. At 3380# with that combo, you should be able to run some easy 9.ohs to possibly some mid 8's with traction. That is lighter than most of the TSO cars out there. Traction will be your greatest friend with a combo like that. I'd recommend a Weldon DB2015a pump with your combo.
Definitely keep us posted and good luck.

Who has run 8's with a 76 GTQ at 3380#?

No one that I know of with a 3-bolt 76 that I can remember. I was just saying that it would be a lot easier for him to be able to run 8's at that weight.
Didn't Laz and Roy run high 8's with a TSE legal turbo? Or was that with a TSL legal 76?

I heard it was a 4 bolt turbo and larger than a 76MM. It is their business to talk about the turbo they ran the big number with. I know at BG it was a 3 bolt 76 and they really got that thing running good with it, that's for sure.

I don't think my car will make a 8 sec pass. I just hope it will be a good strong 9 sec ride that will stay together. I hope it will click off a 9.50 ET, that is I hope.We will have to see this summer.

I've ran 9.40's with a 76GTQ. 240" stage II, small valve GNI's , V2 intercooler, 400 turbo at 3500#.

Wow Steve that is a very nice GN. How much boost were you running, and where does that turbo stop working at.

Anyone else? I am thinking of swapping frommy T70 P trim to a 76GTQ later this year, after I add the required safety equipment I am already missing for this set up

That was with 30 psi. I don't know where it quits i didn't try running anymore than that. Thanks
