Hello-
I'm looking for a complete shortblock for my '79 Century Turbo Coupe. Preferrably used, and lower miles (less than 100,000), but let me know what you have, I may be interested in anything. I live in Minnesota, and don't want to pay more to ship than I pay for the engine!! However, I could use a road trip.

Thanx,
JCY

Yes

That's right, sorry I forgot to type it in my thread. What have you got?

I don't have anything of that vintage, just an '83 TType longblock that needs rebuilt (it's been sitting for years). Thanks & good luck.

Tell me more

I only need a short block (my motor has many new parts including a new turbo, carb, etc.). Yours is carbureted I'm sure since it's an '83 model (I could use an intake to play with and practice grinding on), so it'll do if I can't find anything else. How far away from MN are you? I found one on Ebay that will work, but it's in Arizona. Cheap, though. Why does yours need rebuilding? Miles? (not really important if I have to tear it down anyway). How much? Let me know and stay in touch. Let me know if you know of any others as well.

Thanx again,
JCY

I have a rebuilt 85 longblock-20 bolt oilpan- with arp headstuds, $1300. plus shipping

That's not terribly out of line for me, but shipping would probably kill me. I'll do some checking.

JCY I say the motor needs to be rebuilt, but I really have no clue if it does or not. I bought the car not running & I don't recall what the previous owner said was wrong with it. I did send the turbo & other top-end pieces somewhere out West years ago, so I would suggest it be gone thru just to be safe. There's not many other carbed TR's around here, at least not for parts. $600 (+ shipping from NC) would get the shortblock & intake. Thanks again & email me directly if you have any other questions.

I dont have an block to sell you but if it'll help narrow down the quest any 79-85 vintage short block will work for you. An 86-87 will to for that matter. The difference in deck height wont be an issue as long as you use the correct HG for the year of engine. Basically the only difference is that the SFI motors have a more agressive cam and that shouldn't hurt on a carb turbo. Most if not all of the carb-turbos used the NA camshaft. Just make sure you get a front cover and oil pan with it and everything else should bolt on.
