I just bought a total original stock 79 LeSabre. Four wheel disk, posi rear, no power or air, bucket seat center console 55 K miles. What can I start with on the Turbo that is bolt on and semi simple? I have a Skylark 455 now but this is my first ever Turbo Buick. Any help?

Thanks,

Dean

79 Lesabre

Yeah, I live in Orange County, I had this at Long Beach last weekend and at the donut shop in Huntington Beach Saturday morning. Will have it at Westminster Buick next Saturday for the Buick show.

4-Wheel disc and no A/C! Sounds like the original owner tried to order, what I like to call a factory race car. If you can, could you post some pictures of the engine compartment. I have only seen one A/C delete turbo car in my life and it was an 81 Regal.

I have been trying to send you photos but keep getting an error message. Anyway, I haven't taken any of the motor yet. Will have to wait till the weekend for them. For sure this car never had air, even the inside vents are dummys.

Thanks, If you are trying to e-mail the firewall on my PC is probally keeping you out. If you can maybe post a link to a host so the other guys can see to. Eric

close!

i used to live in HB and i live in westminster now...seem like ur very close....i wanna take a look at it if its not to much to ask....do u have AIM?(aol instant messanger?)

Really sharp!!!

I've always wondered if those portholes (aka Ventiports) would fit on a Regal, and how they'd look. With the Turbo badge, it would look more factory than GNX vents.

bolt ons

The best bolt on for the carbed motors is headers of course. Poston's headers for the 84-85 non-intercooled GN's. are a direct bolton. I have a 78 Lesabre TC that I eventually converted to the 84-85 SFI setup. You could call that a bolt-on although a pretty serious and time consuming one it was. Oh and pull out the Turbo350 and the 3.08 gears in the rearend. Put in a 200-4R and a set of 3.73's. The tranny is probably the next easiest upgrade, the only thing necessary for swap is the crossmember from any 81 or newer full size GM car that had the 200-4R. If you don't know how to setup rearend gears have a shop do it. You can get a set of used 3.73's from any full size Chevy 1/2 ton with the 8.5 inch 10 bolt rear. If you're trying to find them in the local salvage yard youself, look on the glovbox for the option code sheet, I believe the code for 3.73 gears is GT4. you may want to ask a guy at the Chevy Dealer if that's correct. That'll save you from getting dirty before finding the right ones. Give your local 4-wheeler shop a call, he may have a used set. yes the gears will work on your posi carrier. Any questions, feel free to e-mail me or call and we'll chat. 763-783-0700 Brad
