Hey Guys,
I'm going to do some modding over the winter and need another rear housing for my GN. I need an empty housing. Nothing else. Im adding Ford ends to it and having it narrowed to fit some 15x10 wheels I just bought.
I will be at Norwalk if you happen to be going there. I am located in Western Pa and will drive to pick up. 100 miles or so...give or take.

Thanks

I have an empty housing with a slightly bent axle tube I can bring to Norwalk. You can have it.

Axel tubes can be straightened I had 2 pretty bent ones straightened for $150 each at a local chassis shop

I'll let you know. I need to call my guy and see if his jig can do this or whether its a pain in the azz. I really appreciate the free offer, but this is going in my car for a short time, then into a full on show car down the road. I really dont want the chance of any issues.

Thanks
:D

If you're going to mod it why don't you use one out of an a or B body Donnie. Much cheaper and easier to find and you could get some of the adjustable lower mounts for it.:)

I sorta thought about several routes to go. I have a few 9" laying around, but then you need to jig up for all the brackets.
An 8.5 out of a different chassis, but same deal.
This is by far the easiest. C clip eliminators are about 150 or so, and I'm going 30 or bigger on the spline, so I still need axles and a posi. If I use a G body, it's a very quick job. Brackets are already there. It's getting narrowed anyway, so the Ford ends just became my C clip eliminators. To cut and weld the Ford ends on is about equal in total $$$ spent. If you start jigging up the brackets...it adds up and you'll end up spending more in the long run. A posi and axles are still needed for which ever I choose. This way, the expense is only the Ford ends over the eliminators.
Did that make sense?!?!?!
I need a housing because I'm not cutting my original.

Get a B-body housing. They are 8.5" and I believe the control arm mounting locations are correct but the housing is wider. Cut it down and put 9" ford housing ends on it, you will have to run disc brakes. I was also told the axle tubes are beefier than the G-body's and you can even find one with a 30 spline posi unit.

Thanks Chris,
The Ford ends are what I was wanting to do. What model cars had them?

Thanks

B-bodies, mid 90's caprice impala roadmaster etc. Call a few local yards and see if you can find one then bring it down to me and I will get it fixed up for you. I know my chassis guy has done a few. I might build one myself for my T-type.

OK thanks. I talked to Master Street in Warren about the job. Who does your work?

Yeah so am I. Let me ask my buddy again he may have one.

Cant find anyone to confirm the trailing arm locations on the B-body housing. That would be sweet. I searched a ton on the Malibu racing forum and G-body forum. No one knows.

I found a housing, and another complete 8.5 out of an 87 GN, if anyone is looking. Plus he has a posi, gears, and axles from my housing.

Let me know and I will get you a price.
