Hellow everybody
Got this 82 Regal with a what looks like a 86 or 87 intercooled engine 231 v-6 engine it, a gift from my wife. Car was setting for about 5 years previous owner said he had problems with fuel delivery. Fixed that problem with new aluimnum line. old line was braided line and was ruptured. Changed fluids , replaced coil pack, new plugs and wires. It runs, but seems to misfire when trying to get revs up. Notice a lot of valve train noise, so removed valve covers rockers were dry. Weather got cold, It gets cold in Orange County N.Y., put the tools up and called it a season. The weather is nice now yay, yippie. Checked rockers and oil sowly comes up, but still have valve train noise. Have plenty of oil pressure
around 40-80 lb. Could this be bad lifters, if so is ther a way to determine if it has a roller or just a hydrualic cam with out a tear down. Can I tell from the serial's # on the block. Where are the #'s on the block.

help me please

Remove the rocker arms from one side of the engine, and the intake. Pull a lifter, and you'll know if you have hydraulics. If they are- they might be collapsed, and maybe locked up from sitting so long. These engines all came with flat tappet hydraulics, but you can't know what it's got without getting in there. The cam could be wiped too, which the bottoms of the lifters will indicate.

Hopefully- It'll turn out to be an easy project and a good runner for you! Is that 65-75lbs of fuel pressure at idle(in your sig)??
