83 Carb suggestions

I am considering purchasing a new carb for my buick. the edelbrock on there is a bad carb as in its a pain to start the car (not the starter keep having to pump the gas...hard ) and tends to smoke alot on start up. i was thinking about taking the blow through carb approach which i was told by other people my barry grants Demon carbs what do you suggest turbobuick?
