I know it's not a buick but this is the best sight that I know of for this type of car. My buddy has a 83 olds gutless supreme and is swapping out the motor and trans in favor of a chevy 350 and another trans yet to be determined. The three speed automatic that was in the car had parts go through the case so it is completely destroyed and useless. I'm trying to find out for my buddy what the best reasonably prices and easiest to install trans is. The problems that come to my mind are crossmember and driveshaft length. I would prefer to get a trans the same length as the stocker so that we wouldn't have to pay a shop to make one. Let me know what needs to be done and what my options are. Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

You dont know what type of trans was in the car? You should find that out first. If its three speeds it could have been several things. TH200, TH350, or TH400. Find out what you need. In anycase, you can put a post in the "wanted" section on these forums and someone will have what you need.

What engine WAS in the car?

The car had a 307V8 with a three speed trans. Not sure what trans it is, I'll have to take a look. What on the trans will tell me which one it is? He just bought a TH-350 to put in the car. Any idea how much work we're looking at?

thanks
Dan

The car most likely has a TH350 in it already if it has the 307 in it. It should be a straight swap.

most 307 cars in the early 80's had a 200 metric trans a 350 trans is a straightforward swap i have a 82 cutlass i have tried every trans u can think of in it if you need some help pm me i will be glad to help
