84-85 blocks

What kind of safe power can you get out of an 84-85 block? I was thinking of building a block that I have here with .030 forged pistons and 2 center billet caps. 400 hp at the wheels OK? It will have the 86-87 intercooled stuff on it. I also have noticed on two HA blocks that there seems to be a line that runs in the lifter valley. Is it a casting line? Thanks!

not sure how much power im making but you should be able to take that block to the low 9's. its about the same as the 109 with very little difference.

wouldnt it be cheaper to get a gridle then the billet main caps?

That would be true if you bought the girdle only to look at.
