84 Monte Carlo/ removing the signal/ cruise lever

I got to the point of knocking the pivot pin down but the pin doesn't seem to go down far enough to get the lever pivot out. I even got my spare column to try and did the same thing. What am I missing here? Thanks, Henry.

Well I unbolted the top housing and drove the pivot pin out. Now how do I take the cruise/ wiper lever apart to remove the arm?
