hey im about to buy a tr blue on blue bucket seats very minor rust original 8.5 rear and dealer window sticker has 120,000 miles but has a mess of wires by the coil and also inside by the scanner plug and by pass kick panel computer..they guy has spent over 1800 at local mechanic shops trying to fix it and they have made a big mess of wires..they tried to change the 84-85 coils to the newer 86 87 coil and tried to mix and match wires it looks like a headache im going to end up paying around 35 for it.. but without it turning on? what would you rather do if you were in my position fix the hot air electrical nightmare and is it worth 35?? any decent turbo buick mechanics around miami i can defend myself to a certaint point in being mechanically inclined but not a nuclear meltdown i would want to insure my money and take it to a good buick shop. ???

IMO-The wiring problems can be fixed just like anything can be if you have time and money. The best way is to have your car(or soon to be) right next to an 84/85 TTYPE along with the wiring diagrams. Compare your wiring problems to an original and methodically remove all the extra wiring back to stock. I can get you copies of any wiring diagrams you may need. The coil wiring has been covered here or you can get an adapter harness. Caspers Electronics will have all the connectors and the coil adapter. Pictures of the wiring mess would really help out here and improve the quality of your responses. Brad

X2 what brad said on it can be fixed, wether u want to go back to the original wiring and start fresh or simply gather what's done to it now in upgrades and get it right and in order...... I still have all the stock hot air. Coil and ECM and wiring that goes along with a hotair on my ttype if u need pics of connectors or wiring or any kind of wires that I can get to without tearing out my dash lmk I can get pics For you to get u on the right track, there is alot of info here just got do some searching the guys here are willing to help, just ask and be patient :)

thanks guy's! im going to pick up the buick today and take some detailed pictures of it. post it on here and maybe you guy's can help me get this thing wired up correctly Thanks

There use to be a website or post that had how all the wires had to be matched up to convert the 84-85 coil to 86-87 coil- only 3 wires are the same- I would post but my "elec file" is meesed up and I can't open it- may have a copy in my binder in the shop... let me know if you need the info and I'll try to copy and email it to you

Post #5 here was good info- but it looks like the site is down...
