I have an 85 t type and i was wondering what all is involved in converting to an 87 computer? I have converted to an 87 coil already. Any help would be great. Thanks

go to http://www.rennie-macintosh.com/ and do a search.. you will be able to find allot of info..

there is a whole bunch of info here on this site too try a search... it is a really simple swap though. find an ecm, plug it in. you have to run a wire from one of the empty pins (don't remember which one) on the harness ecm plug to a incoming air temperature sensor (iat) that you can get from any (3.8 buick late 80-90's) you have to install the iat sensor in the intake as far from the throttle body as possible. ther is some debate whether you have to run the 86/87 mass air sensor and coil. i did and it ran fine. you have to decide whether you want the computer to control an electric fan or not if you do you have to run the wires. mine is stand alone. some people say you have to get a chip burnt for a hot air car. my car has bigger injectors and stuff now so i am having one burnt for my set up. i've heard also to use the small chip out of yout hotair car but i didn't . some people say that it is a plug and play swap... i say try it. and see how your car runs and if every thing is ok run it.. worry about the chips later..

You just run the IAT temp wires to the C-11 port and the ground to the D-12 port. You reuse the Cal-Pak chip and they will either have the 16036503 or 16036504 numbers on them. I ran a 2000 ohm resister instead of the IAT when I first did the swap and used the 85 MAF and the car never runs rich except at WOT, at the track it reads around 800. I ran the electric fan control on mine and port D-2 provides the ground for your relay. I have BlueTops & TA-33 in mine and run just a regular Thrasher chip for Blues and have no complaints with the set up. Now that I have an 87 MAF, I'm going to swap out the resister and see what happens now.:D
