yeah just because i was running 27 psi doesn't mean you can!:D j/k...i actually was running that much boost on straight denatured alky on dual nozzles but then i blew the intake manifold gasket to hell so what do i know!

so Don, it wasnt a head gasket? i got the speedo working in my car now btw, so i can see at what speeds i get the knock

Sinful6 you said something about putting a dent in the downpipe, why cant i just put a dent, or cut a notch out of the heat shield??

thanks

Are you sure that it is knocking on the heatshield? Most of the time, they knock much lower. I believe the chassis/frame? I'm sure someone else can throw a word or two in on this. I'm sure you'll turn up something if you use the search...

well, the heat sheild i am talking about is where the cat used to be, right underneth the passenger feet. where the downpipe curves to head out to the back of the car it is hitting that i believe, if its not, its reaaaal close... ok, now i will try searching

thanks

Usually it hits the body seam at the passengers footwell area.

You have to pull the pipe off the car and then die grind a nice channel for the thing to clear the body seam.

Seal it up with some rustoleum and undercoating after you grind it flush to the body.

About 3/4" clearance to be had there. :)

You can also cut off the bottom part of the heat shield paint the edge to avoid rust and put it back on and you won't even notice the cut area.

i think i got it

well, it was a short test, but i took that heat sheild off where the cat was, and the downpipe was hitting it. i had a lot of clearence everywhere else. so, i took that heatshield off, went for a short ride, wailed on it, saw 1.6º of KR during the short ride and that was at 23psi.. i work with it a little more when theres less traffic out.

thanks for all the help
