The motor swap is pretty easy if you have a donor car to go off of to make sure you have all the parts. You need to swap the wiring harness, ecm, power steering reservoir, all the relays that connect to the harness, etc. If you 85 was like mine was and has the powermaster brake system, as opposed to the hydroboost setup it makes it a bit easier too.

I did this on my old 85 and the hardest part was swapping the wiring harness.
 
If you are keeping your long block you will need to do something about the oil return, the 86/7 block has a hole drilled for it. You can run a line down to the pan. You still will need all the parts I mentioned above.
