what turbo was stock on the 87 model ? i see people talking of ta61's and such, and will an 85 turbo work, what are the differences

The stock turbo used on all '86-'87 Turbo Regals was a Garrett model number TBO-348 with a .63 A/R 3-bolt Buick specific turbine housing. It featured a bolt on inlet bell style compressor cover, commonly referred to as a TA style compressor cover. It was good for around 350-370 flywheel hp when pushed hard. Stock boost levels varied from car to car, 12psi up to 15psi in cold weather. Some have pushed the stock turbo further with alky and or nitrous.
