I am trying to upgrade my ECM in my 85 GN. I am replaceing it with one from a 87. After installing it in the car with the chip and cal pack that came out of it the car will run and idle but the check engine light will blink very quickely and then stay on solid. when I check it for codes with my OTC 4000 it tells me that all my engine specs are 0 and the eprom# is 0000. The ecm# is 1227148 and the cal pack is 16036504. Am I missing something here or did I buy a bad ECM?

The ECM is the correct part number. The Calpak chip is the same for the 84-87 ECM. Use this chip from your 85 ECM. The main chip may or may not be correct. GM used the same ECM on various cars with different main ECM chips. Verify your main chip.

I suspect that the ECM you have is correct and the 86/87 setup ECM requires the MAT sensor. Caspers sells an 84/85 conversion kit relatively cheap. TT sells an 86/87 chip which ignores the MAT sensor. Brad
