87 turbo on 85 hot air

Will a 87 stock turbo fit on a stock hot air car?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but dont know much about the Hot air cars and had a local guy call me looking for a turbo. I have an old stocker that I could help him out with.

Totally different, since the hot air turbo mounts at the back of the engine.

the main component for HA use is that the turbo be carbon sealed.

its been done but you need to weld the intake adapter to the turbo and make an adapter for your throttle body to bolt on

84-85 compressor housings are easily recontoured for the 86-89 compressor wheel. As AJ mentioned the important part is the carbon seal. The stock intake is such a poor flowing piece of crap that swapping compressors is worth little.

just 86/87 units with the O-ring adapter welded to them.

or adapter to use 86-89 style of compressor housings on the HA intake.
