Hey,

I would like to build a custom cold air intake for my '91 Regal. Please let me know if my plans need adjustment. I am planning to buy the following:

2 metal clamps
1 metal 3.5"-4" dryer duct or some sort of metal/aluminum tubing (I'll measure the exact size before I buy it of course.) I assume I'll need one about 2.5 feet in length.

I plan to remove my current K&N filter that is sitting in the original filter box and the filter box itself to make room for a new K&N cone. I will attach the metal pipe to the rubber hose and clamp it, then run it down the front of the car behind the grill or the fog lamps below the bumper, then clamp it to the filter.

Is this a decent way to add a relatively cheap intake modification?

Please keep in mind that this is my first mod *gulp* that I am installing myself, so any advice would be very very much appreciated!

Thanks for your help,

Eric

ON my L27 3800 series one Baby RIVIERA
I USED THE WEAPON R V2 Foam filter that has a built in connection nipple for 4 inch black delta dust collection hose available a LOWES home center, The V2 foam intake is available off the net , do a search, they come in a multitude of colors and are built strudy,
THE delta dust collection stuff has manufactured 4 inch 90 degree elbows to,
Inexpensive DO IT YOUR SELF RAM AIR.

I use to put a small round trash can over the filter for a heat shield, or try a paint bucket. HOME BREW stuff gives you some good bragging rights if you are a cheapskate like me.

GOOD LUCK AND REGARDS < Blackhawk38:)

Thanks for the info.

I found the filter @ 2K Racing. Does it come with the metal pipe (like those Injen intakes for example), or do I have to go to a hardware store for that?

There's some car performance garages in Montreal where I live that sell K&N filters - for that reason I was thinking of just buying a K&N cone. Those Weapon R seem to require a bit of maintenance, since they are oiled up.

And what is the delta dust collection hose you mentioned? Can't I just attach the metal pipe to my existing hose after removing the filter box?

Thanks for your time,

Eric

I think there is another site that sells that filter called NEXT COLLECTION, the filter comes alone , IT is V2 model with a 4 inch OD protruding attachment sleeve on the end , THE delta IS a name brand of construction tools found at home centers,They also make parts( 4" black soft plastic sprial hose, hard plastic elbows and scoops and fittings) to collect dust into a central vacuum from a shop full of table saws, planers, band saws, radial arm saws, ect . ie , WOODWORKERS CENTRAL DUST COLLECTION SYSTEM:)

GOOD LUCK
