.96 to .81 T4 housing difference

I am currently using a .96 T4 housing and Im having spool up issues.I dont want to loosen up the converter any more than i have.would switching to a .81 housing make a difference.before the turbo change i had an hpq wheel with a .85 3 bolt housing and it spooled up very well.the new turbo has a 72mm ex wheel which is not much larger than the 68 mm wheel in the hpq. opinions please.

The housing change to a .81 won't do much. A .69 would probably bring it back closer to what the .85 3 bolt was like.

Sound Performance has a spool valve for 4 bolts...curious how it would work on a Buick!
