Going nuts researching the injectors on these cars. From what I can tell there WAS a change around 2000 or so. Not sure what has been changed though.

Update on the teardown, love how they hide that one bolt for the upper intake behind the alternator. Upper manifold is off and the lower intake is full of antifreeze. Really couldn't tell where the leak was coming from though. Pulled the lower intake as well and no antifreeze in the lifter valley. Will be getting the aluminum gasket set directly from GM.

I just had a similar issue with a friend of mines car. ITs a 1999 Buick regal with the 3800. He said it started to use coolant and finally it just got totally flooded with antifreeze in every cylinder and just died on him.

I told him not to try and start it. I towed the car back to my shop and pulled the plugs out and disabled the coil pack and cranked it over. Holy cow! Every cylinder pumped out about a cup of water! After most of the water was out of the cylinders. I drained the coolant then I fired it up for about 15 seconds. It was missing for a bit then cleared right up.

Pulled the plastic intake manifold and saw where the egr tube burned a hole in the manifold. I bought a replacement manifold from Dorman. Changed oil and the car has never run so good!

I actually can't believe it. How much coolant was in that motor! He's driven it now for about 15,000 miles with no problems whatsover.

BTW this car has 210,000 miles on it too!
