Removing the ac compressor for inspection and possible replacement.

Any advice on the removal and things to beware of so I don't mess it up would be appreciated. Will be converting to R134A during this process.

Thanks in advance

John S.

Swap the Dryer and Orifice tube while you're doing it. FLush the system and replace the orings with green ones (for R-134a)

copy that.

How do I remove the compressor? I see one bolt is easy to get to. How many are there that need removal before the compressor comes out? Also, how do I disconnect the A/C lines from the back of the compressor?

One bolt holds the lines to the back of the compressor. There's 2 wire connections to it one in the front and one in the back.

And there are 3 bolts that hold it to the accessory bracket. One of those will only come out when the lines are loose.

Have someone siphon off the R-12 before you undo the bolt that holds the lines and replace the seals when you bolt it back up
