A challenge

I have a simple question. I have a GN and a Typhoon. The Typhoon when it idles it hesitates like GN once did. It actually will die out when going around turns or just after a fast accleceration. Most noticable is when it just idles there is so much pause between the motor simply turning over you can almost hear silence. And then it catches and continues to run - repeat.

What is it? I figure GN techs can figure this out
