on my 84 ttype. Is a garrett m10 turbo stock? There is a spring around one of the up-pipe bolts, what is its purpose and is it supposed to be torqued? And what are the switches/sensors mounted on top of the drivers side valve cover? Working on this car is a learning experience :O More questions to come. Thanks in advance.

Yes..the Garret M10 Turbo is Stock...

I usually Torque the Spring bolts till they run out of threads..but usually "tight" is good enough....Their Function is to let the exhaust, and Downpipe be able to move.

The "stuff" on the Driver side valve cover is your:

1. wastegate Solinoid (its got the red plug)

2. the EGR solinoid!

HTH!

M10 is the stock housing. The switches on the valvecover are for your EGR, wastegate controller, and I can't remember what the third is but I think it was a vacuum motor. If you are talking about the downpipe bolts they are supposed to have a spring on them. Tighten the bolts until they stop. It will stop when it hits the shoulder of the bolt leaving the springs with the right torque.

Thanks

for the quick replys. The turbo looks ok,no oil or filings in it. Is there a tuner setup to eliminate some of this stuff or is it best to put all of it back on?Thanks again.
