I'm considering upgrading my GT61 to a GT67 turbo, but just have a few questions...Car will be street driven 95% of the time...
I'm running a 3400 9/11...will that be fine?
Have msd 50's w/ the SMC alchy kit..how much boost will be able to be run safely?
Best exhaust housing for my situation....63 or .82 & lastly, what exhaust wheel should I have installed?

Thanks, The Darkside:cool:

Sorry I don't have an answer for your question, but I was wondering what you thought of the GT61? I'm in the process of getting P&P heads/intake and was thinking of getting that turbo with a 3K stall converter. I only plan to run about 18-20 psi. Thanks.

I run my GT67 with a AC 3200 lu converter. It runs great and spools fast. You should be fine.:)

The GT61 is an awesome turbo, you can do a search on this board for lots of information on it. It was a nice improvement from my previous turbo, the TE44. I haven't made a definate decision yet as far as upgrading, but am definetly entertaining the thought....

I have a gt6776s ive been to the track 2 times with it , i have a 0 pump ( 3000- 3200) vigilante , the tubo spools just fine , not as well as the TE 44 i had before which was real fast , i ran 25 lbs of boost on alchohol and pump gas , no knock , it has a .63 housing and i beleive a 66 exhaust wheel , so far i am very satisfied with this turbo good luck

What were your track times?

I have the same turbo and converter as Randy does. It's a little soggy compared to the 54 it replaced... but acceptable.

Scott...Do you think it'll spool a little better w/ my 3400 & what's your thoughts about this turbo on the street w/ alchy? I can live w/ a tad slower spool as long as it pulls like a freight train once it does spool... :) What exhaust wheel and housing would you recommend for 95% street use? By the way, is the time in your sig. with this GT67?

Thanks, The Darkside:cool:

Not sure on all the specs. I do know its a P/N 6776S, which is a 67 "P" trim with the upgraded compressor housing (4" inlet) It does fine on the street, I would say 3400-3500 would put you in the ballpark. Time in sig. is with the 67 along with ported heads, MaxEffort "R", 72 inj. and PTE frontmount. 210-210 hyd. roller. HTH.

Dark side ,
My best track time 11.502 @ 118 mph , 23 lbs of boost , I still have some tuning to do , I believe i was a tad rich

I just sold a TE67 (John Craig GT67) small shaft turbo. GT67mm compressor, P-Trim turbine , .85 ex. housing, but the compressor cover looks like stock, meaning 3" inlet 2" outlet.

I thought turbo spooled very fast, and ripped up some serious tires on the street.

25-26PSI 11.2 ET
31PSI still 11.2

Sold turbo for better ET.

A little over $600 from Quad Air! Good street turbo.
