I dont know if it is my intercooler or my engine but my ilde will not stay for nothing ?I just got it running this week with the stuff on my signature I did everything to spec on the other website my first problem was it did not want to boost it had popping at 5 psi and the plugs were fouled my car was running to rich, It turned out that I have a 84-85 MAF on my 86-87 ECM so I switched to a 86-87 MAF now I can boost but still wont idle right I cruz and my boost gauge reads about 15-16 HG WHEN I STOP it goes to 10 HG and wants to die, somtimes it does sometimes it does not. Tomarrow I am going to switch my spark plugs and see if it will idle right because the spark plugs on it now are probabaly fouled out because I was running the 84-85 MAF. Another little problem is my #6 cylinder seems not to be working right My cousin put a temp gun on it and it was not hot like the others hope fully the MAF fixed it because #6 was fouled also ??? Anybody have any sugestions?? I will let you know How it runs tomarrow.

How are you controlling boost?
From your pics looks like the vacuum line off the turbo compressor runs straight to the wastegate actuator.
You can look at the Hot-Air sticky at the top of this page and see the diagrams.
 
That pic is when it did not run turbo seals were bad and cam was loped out. When I got my car back from my local performance shop from putting a intercooler on it only ran for a week until my came loped out & everytime i steped on the gas my hoses blew off because my turbo was bad. I think they screwed up my car it was fine when i gave it to them. They gave it back to me without my Y and did not hook up my EGR they had alot of vaccum lines deleted. My car has not ran for 1 1/2 years finaly it is running and I understand way more stuff than before. I hooked back up the Y and EGR to the diagram. Sad to say I never felt the boost with the intercooler until yesterday .

From what you have described---I would put a new plug in # 6 hole and run the car for a few minutes---remove the plug and if it is fouled or extremely black---I would bet you have a problem with the injector harness on # 6. If the wire is rubbed through or pinched against metal it will put the inj. to ground and be open ALL THE TIME. Best of luck.
 
Your Hg's are way too low. At idle you should have 18 inches. Cruzing almost 0 depending on throttle. If you have 10 I would say you have a vacume leak and you 02 sensor is trying to compensate.
 
I have not got a chance to change the plugs yet because it has been raining all day probably tomarrow. I am going to take it on the highway for the first time and I will let you no the new HG cruzing 60 with very little to no throttle . I will check for vaccum leaks, and check my injector wiring harnest thats alot.
 
Hey I am not sure if this relates to your problem, but i have heard that a few people on here have had idling issues when running bigger turbos on their hotair when adding an intercooler and the throttlebody is running off the turbo, and not on the pressure side of things. I believe there were a few guys who had similar problems with idling, and they ran the throttlebody off of the intake and had no problems. Since this is a custom made intercooler, that could be a possibility. Not sure, but just my 2 cents :)
 
Thanks for the replys I found the problem out my #6 cylinder injector was loose and my harnest had a little short. MY car idles better and runs better the plugs i am using are CR44 right now and are going to be change out soon to CR43
 
Vacuum Tee

Justin, what did you do about the missing vacuum tee, that is very important to driveabilty of the vehicle. The vacuum tee has a small orfice inside one leg of the Y, which is needed. It's good to see everyone gave you the same advice I gave you. We just need to find someone who lives close to you that can give you some help. Keep working on it, get back to basics, why is your engine vacuum so low? Look for vacuum leaks. Get a scanmaster (or something like it) so you can find out what your engine is doing. Did you make the TPS, IAC adjustments we talked about? Do you have a knock guage? What did you gap the spark plugs at? (30-32) The idle should be about 750, where is your idle? Do one thing at a time so you can see if it helps, if you do many things you will never know which helped or not. Keep in touch and let us know what happens. Good luck
 
Thanks I am going to but a scanmaster 2 and a new injector harnest and will get it in about a week or two and will let you know my readings.
 
hey justin well im glad to hear that ur car is runnin now i ahve a question and maybe u guys can give me some advice my engine only has about less than 1500 miles on it and i wanna change the spark plugs whats my best choice ? and at what gap?all i have on my car is the k&N filter and 3 inch dp thats all
 
noot my scanmaster yesterday and tuned today here are my specs at idle (in drive/ in park) AF 9/10, L8 67/51, BAT 12.8-13.1/13.4, INT 131-116/112-124, BL 90/90, ATS 121/124, RPM 750-800/110-1075, TPS.036, IAC 00, MAL 45-24 My car is running pretty good now all exept is dies out once in a while when i slow down to turn or stop and I have to give it a little gas and pop it in to revers so it does not stall . WHy is my BL so low ????? MAL says a ritch O2 but when I layed in to the gas for 1st and 2nd gear O2 was 757 one time and 780 the other with no knock :D but i never got to third gear:( not enough room. I do see knock on the highway is this normal ??? Thanks again for all the help if it was not for you guys I probably would have ditch my intercooler or sold my car
 
Your tps is too low at idle,and I bet it's not right at WOT either.

.42-.46 at idle.

Anything over 4.4 at WOT.
 
Something weird just happend I lanched the car from a stop and it did not really go nowhere it had a knock of 14.2 !!!!!!!! but when I guned it from a roll manually shifting it was O2 789 and knock of 4.0 why is it knocking so bad from a stop??? If I go to the track it will probably run a 15.20 I am going to buy another chip tomorrow from precision turbo I am tired of messing with the thumb wheel chip with 7 settings
 
I'm not sure how the casper's chip works,but you probably shouldn't be flipping around on the chip too much.There's probably going to be one setting on that chip for pump gas/street tune and that's where you need to leave it so you can get to the real tuning...
 
Ultra chip

Justin, what setting are you using?
0= no start, 1= valet mode won't go over 60mph
2= stock chip, 3= 93 octane 15 boost 18 timing, 4= 16 boost 20 deg timing, 5= 17 boost 22 deg timing, 6= 18 boost 24 deg timing, 7= 19 boost 26 deg timing
If you are using anything above 3 on 93 octane you will probably get knock retard in you timing. If you really think the chip is bad send it to Caspers and they will check it for you. They are great guys and will help you. Put the chip in position #2 until you get your car running good. We know the vacuum is good, you said 18" now set it in stock #2 position and work out any other issues before you go to a higher step on the chip.
