A/C Delco Ign. Module

asloan5 has a brand new one for sale on page 5 of the for sale section. Not sure of the price.

Amazon has AC Delco brand modules for around $150 shipped.
Seach the part number on that site.

I have a new OEM one, but it is much more that 150.00, LMK,again kinda spendy, bought for a spare a bout a year ago when they were discontinued
from Gov. Motors

Just bought it new from amazon for 100 shipped. And I spoke with the seller who said I could return it if it doesn't work for any reason.

Thanks all...

Let us know when you get it, I'm curious to where it was made, USA or
good ol China lead filled junk, cause 100.00 is cheap, but I do hope you get a USA made one, and let us know who made, and I will send this one back to Gov. Motors. thanks.

Ron

I agree! Also $100 sounds too cheap for quality parts & you want a good module. Hope you get lucky but you should know when you inspect it.

Glen has never let me down.. He also has NEW magnavox ign modules on sl today only for 89.00 (magnavox is the original supplier of the coil pack and module% great deal IMO

I don't know about the other merchants that sell on Amazon but the parts sold directly from Amazon itself are indeed genuine AC Delco parts in sealed Delco boxes. I personally bought the last heater core Amazon had for sale.

If it's to good to be true.... It probably isn't!

My part arrived today. Horrible shipping by the way. The 3 metal screws were poking out the bottom of a none padded box. Nice to know it was tossed around like a rock in a can the whole way here!

Anyway opened it up and found what looked to be another clone IGN module. All alum case. Checked the numbers on the unit and it is a magnavox. I called up the amazon distributor and this is what they told me...

Adam,

This item came directly from an AC Delco distributor. AC Delco is an
aftermarket company similar to Standard and Borg Warner. They actually
manufacture very little of what they sell. They source their parts from
many different manufacturers. The item you received is genuine AC Delco
by virtue of the fact that the part in the box is the part that ACD put
in it. If you are looking for an OEM part, you would have to obtain it
from GM in a GM box.

We opened another box of the same part number from a different source
and this part has no markings at all. Therefore, you are welcome to
return the part for a refund. Thanks.

Mike

I installed it and the car started right up, cruises around fine. As soon as I try to accelerate and get into any kind of boost the car coughs and spits all over it's self. No more codes. But something sure isn't right! I think it is still the damn box.

I'm a little lost. What does the OEM ACD Ign module look like? I thought it was black? My friend has an unmolested 87 GN with 40k on it and his is black? Yet I look on nos4gn.(om and it shows this unit...

http://www.nos4gn.(om/servlet/the-16/Buick-Grand-National-parts/Detail

Which is the same unit I got for $99 from amazon.com.

So did I get the actual correct module?

I've seen GM / Delco modules in a few different configurations as of late:

both black and cast silver bodies.
both black and green electronic filler. Whatever that stuff is surrounding the wires and becomes gooey with heat. I prefer the black myself. ;)

One thing is for sure, if it's not the right module, the plug will not work. There is another module just like ours which works on some FWD cars. It has longer studs and different keying for the connector so it won't work.

I've never suffered a problem with any of the modules whether they appear to be Delco or not. Originally this part was used in NA appliations. These are not special to the GN or considered high performance.

With the outsourcing of Delco / Delphi to Mexico, China and whatever the next location is, I would not be suprised to see variances. I'm not a Delco authority, just an informed consumer since these cars were born  :D

I agree 100% Glen is an A-1 Vendor & sells Quality parts at fair prices! Thats where I go when I need some & just happens I got a set in winter when I sold my other spares. As usual Great Service & Pricing!!
Cheers to Glen!

I still have the GM OEM module, but I will you it is much more that 117.00 that is for sure, I bought the last two that GM had in the system about a
years or two ago, you could probably find one on some dealers shelf somewhere, but not at any dist. centers, check it out and let me know what you come up with!!
