I can not remove my passenger side valve cover at all. I have gn1 heads and tall valve covers. If I remove that shield on the ac / heat box I should be able to get it off. Can you remove thay shield with the engine in the car ? I removed the closer of the bottom bolts from the shield but I think there is another under neath. How many bolts hold the shield in ? Thanks

there is one down there underneath that is holding you up. I removed mine with the engine out, but I think you might be able to get it out w/motor in the car...

So there is 2 total underneath ? I removed 1 so it must be buried in there.

Sorry, can't tell you because the shield is buried in a storage locker across town. Do a search on here--not too long ago there was a thread about this subject. Seems like someone used a hammer if my memory serves...

After putting new body mounts on mine that area opened up nicely. Try loosening rt. front body mount bolt and raise body off frame a little. Also may have to turn motor over to lower rear rockers ( gives a little more clearance) It's tight but can be done.

The hardest bolt to get out is right behind the passenger side head I don't think it would be possible to get out with the valve cover on. You may be able to come up from underneath the car. It would take two people person on top guiding swivel 7 mm socket on to head of the bolt. Also my cover has three holes in it for bolts on the bottom. Only two bolts were in place thank God.

You can leave that off to make your life easier.

Took mine off last summer, that bottom bolt is a bitch. No issues with it off and glad I finally did it.
