AC R42TS spark plugs... what do they look like?

i just went to the auto store to get some of these plugs and i think they gave me the wrong ones.

the ones they gave me are smooth, and only have ACDelco written on it with a '1' below it

the box (they gave me the box of 8, but took two out) says ACDelco Rapidfire (written in gold) performance spark plugs...

on the side of the box it says 8 #1 and opposite that 25164639...

i have a feeling they have given me the wrong ones.. and if they did are these any good? or should i take them back.. these were kinda expensive, $2.99 each... last time i got plugs they were only like $1.50 each.... or is my memory slipping...

yeah sounds like you got the wrong plugs...

i use ac delco CR42TS plugs gapped at .032" which are $1.49 per plug...not sure if autozone sells these, i got mine online...autozone has the CR43TS plugs for sure i know that...i just run one range colder than that because i run really high boost on the street (almost 25 psi)

yup wrong plugs-

why dont you return them and get some NGK UR5 spark plugs-

they seem to work real good in my cars- burn nice and clean, and dont blow out under high boost-

long story short-

a buddy of mine had some AC delcos {which ive ran for years in all my cars} in his car on the dyno, and the neighboring shop to the dyno the guy races those little 70MPH go carts that spin 18,000 RPM

anyway, the go cart guy had a spark plug testor that made the spark plug spark, and you could see the AC delco plugs misfire i guess then they put the UR5 plugs in and no misfire-

really, im going to take that guys advice because he runs his motor at 18,000RPM, and JOE REIF picked up about 7 EDIT*** HORSEPOWER*** with the spark plug change that day on the dyno...
he was able to up the fuel pressure, and those UR5's were able to burn the extra fuel and make more power, and the AC 42's wouldnt...
we both used to run 42 only for 25PSI or higher boost, and now i run them all the time on the street and the track-

not saying you got to buy em, just try em once and see if you like them-

AC Plugs with the # 1 on them would be Rapid Fire plugs just as you have indicated. They have a bunch of grooves cut into the side of the center electrodes. If they look like that they are definately Rapid Fires. You can use them but they aren't the R42TS plugs. Some guys like them but most just think they are a gimmick plug that works no better than the regular ones.

BTW I use and also reccomend the NGK UR5 plugs.

alright, well i guess will take these back tomorrow, i thought 25 bucks for sparkplugs was to much

you should be able to get money back and get the plugs too-

i couldnt tell you how much they cost, i just call napa and my buddies drop em off at the house that night or during the week
