GM part# 19112569, AcDelco part#213-3454... Anyone try one of these??

Yep. Not any better than the reman'd POS's from NAPA and AutoZone. The only one I tested wouldn't do crap so I cant tell you what the turbo link scan said the numbers were.

I should have figured as much. How's your day going with the strike? I sure could have used the parts we need for the cars in the shop!!

A remanufactured or even a new generic part needs to pass quality control measures before it even leaves the building. So to have it totally non functional makes no sense, unless it was bought by someone and damaged, then returned and put back on the shelf for someone else to buy. Example- Everyone has always sworn by GM ignition modules and that anything else rarely works right. I bought a 100 dollar autozone module...it has much smaller gauge wires and the holes for mounting the coil pack werent even tapped! Had to do it myself. Plus the spade connectors that connect to the coil pack didnt fit the blade connectors right. I did a little filing and soldered them together. 2 years later the thing is still working and handling 23psi with no blowout whatsoever. I think alot of the problems have to do with rough handling during installation (main reason people have problems with o2 sensors not lasting), or the part was used by someone and returned then re-shelfed by some idiot and the next poor guy gets it. Usually a remanufactured or generic part will have some shortcoming. You just have to identify the shortcoming and do your best to fix it....like the pins on the MAF may be too thin for proper contact with the connector, or they're bent in a way that makes for poor contact...a little wicking of solder on the pins can fix that, or just put a small bend in them....or maybe some oils leftover from the manufacturing process were left on the thermode...theres alot of little things to watch out for in this day and age where no one gives a ****. A GM part will usually work better because the QC procedures are way more strict. But a generic or remanufactured part can be made to work if attention is paid to the shortcomings. The lower price comes from skipping certain procedures...you just have to do those procedures yourself, and usually the part will be fine. But that latter doesnt apply to things like starters and alternators n stuff like that. Im on alternator # 3 and now this one is going bad. At least this one lasted about 10,000 miles vs 100 for the others....and they were all new alternators! The remanufactured one is the one that lasted the longest.

And you think it's OK for this post point of sale remanufacturing by the customer is satisfactory??
Personally, I think it's totally unsatifactory. But we seem to be acquiring "made in china" mentality that accepts shoddy workmanship. I don't.

As far as passing QC is concerned, well.... maybe, but it depends on what QC you're measuring against. Unfortunately the genaric standards they use are just fine for 98% of the n/a 3800 motors those mafs are calibrated for, but not for forced induction applications, which is why they seldom even come close to proper operation in our cars, especially above cruise.

No...........????? I said that it would take an "idiot" to put a used part back up on the shelf and sell it as a new one to another customer.
I'm talking about a "new" generic or remanufactered part that is lacking in quality in one way or another, and in some cases its possible to fix it up and make it work if you have no options...like no money for the real thing.
But a used part being sold as new is totally unethical and slimy and unfortunately I have run into some that do this regularly.

My 20 year old MAF still works....lucky I guess. I saw a new delco on ebay with @ 18 bids I think, maybe less , with 3 days left , and it was already at 290 bucks!!! This was last night. How much are they at the dealership?!

You can't get them at a dealership. Discontinued long ago.

People have rocks in their heads. When we have better technology available, why would you want to use something thats obsolete? Not to mention pay that kind of money.
When your ready to make a great improvment to your car, buy a ls-1 maf and a traslator. You will wonder why you did not do it sooner.

just my $.02

Or an even more radical thought, Translator Pro and NO MAF!!

This particular Delco part(19112569) is just like the Wells,Cardone,Standard, etc parts. Its not reman'd by Delco. It's a Cardone or Brand X part in a Delco box. For a lack of a better description it is part of Delcos "budget line". They started doing this about 5 or 6 years ago. This line was designed so that the dealership service depts could compete with the Mom&Pop places that have a lower labor rate. Delco buys parts a cheap as they can and stuffs them in a Delco box. The customer thinks they are getting the same quality as the OEM part at a cheaper price. We dont use them to much because some of the stuff is just plain junk from the get go. I also have what was supposed to be a brand new MAF made by Delphi. It's just the oposite of the Delco reman. It idles just like it should. Give it more than 1 volt on the TPS and it stumbles and pops so bad you think the HG is going to go just sitting in the garage. The biggest problem I had with the Delco unit was that I didn't see anything higher than 200 grams at WOT. Injector tip in was just horrendous with both units.
