Added Too much oil??

Will overfilling the oil by about 1 Quart predispose you to oil leaks? I filled it up to about the 1st bend on the oil dipstick and it seems I have a drop of oil dripping that I thought I didn't have before.

The danger w/too much oil, is the oil can become aerated(spelling) which in turn can send the air bubbles thru the oil pump and consequently into the bearings. This is more common w/oil pans that don't have windage trays, which would keep the oil from hitting the crankshaft and becoming aerated.I would suggest removing the extra.
