i think i found my problem but not sure, i put a comp 206 cam and lifters in last year and used the same push rods . It seems to me that when i tighten the rockers it pushes my valve springs down pretty far and maybe making my valves stay open a little. Question is do i need any clearance between the rockers and the springs, how do i check to see if my push rods are to long , i cant even push down on the lifters any it seems to be bottom out the lifters from being to tight.

thanks guys

if you haven't had your heads milled or any block work like
decking then your pushrods are probably ok. when you
torque down your rocker arm assembly it will push down
some valves. there is no other adjustments needed and
no there is no clearance between the rocker and valve stem.
you very well may not be able to collapse some lifters.
i highly doubt your valves arent closing all the way but to
check spin engine over till both valves appear to be closed.
(tdc compression) then apply about 35lbs of shop air in the
spark plug holes. you will hear some leakage but if its coming
out the tail pipe thats bad and if its coming out the throttle
body thats bad also. post your original problem/symptoms and
i'll see if i can help you.

I'll try the air trick and see what happens. I have a rev problem hard to get 5000rpm under boost, and in park it will hit 4900 and come to a dead stop. Does not seem to have much pull over 4400 rpm. I have new springs and all and ive checked every thing on the car. So i just dont get it, it seems like it has to be something in the heads or something. They are stock 140,000 plus mile heads with new 90lb springs and the new cam lifters and timing chain but stock push rods.
