Finally got a decent 60' the other night, 1.9. The car ran a 12.5 @ 107.5mph. Was able to get 24 psi of boost with the alky and 110 octane without any knock. I started at 21 psi and had to turn the rod about 12 times to get it to 24 , then had to have help to connect it to the DP. Brakes would only hold 7 psi at the lights before pushing the car forward. Any suggestions for pulling off an 11 sec.

You have enough in your combo to get there. I have a similar setup per my sig below. I ran 12.6 with 2.0 60' on street tires, 92 octane pump gas and alky, 24 lbs of boost and 20 deg timing, and launched with only 1 lb of boost due to radials.

With traction, ie slicks, and tuning I think you can get there.

Empty the car and trunk, get some Hoosier QTP's, or slicks, up the boost to 26-27 psi. and you should be there.

1.70 60 ft.

Loss of 50lb.s

More boost

You should have plenty of octane now to get to that boost level.

You're there with your set-up. Last year, at US41, a guy with a ta49, stock set-up and Blue Tops with a 100 octane chip, ran a 11.8 a few times. He was running 18-20 psi.
With a 93 octane chip, my times are posted below with 18 psi. I was running a bit rich with my Blue Tops.

Good air, a high timing - 26* - race chip, good race gas, 24# - 26# of boost, good tires - slicks or DOT slicks netting a 1.6 -1.7 60'.

what does the wheel cylinders have to do with it? i thought all gm was the same style.

He was pushing through the lights hence the s-10 wheel cylinders and soft shoes.

S10 wheel cylinders are bigger than the stock Regal wheel cylinders and are a direct fit. They're a popular "mod" because you can hold back more boost with them - especially combined with a soft compound shoe.

the Buick wheel cylinders are 3/4" bore and the S10 are 7/8" bore more larger surface for the hyd fluid to push on =more pressure/holding force

You got every thing you need just tune it and get some new valve springs in if you haven't already. I did my 12.1 with 2 pound launch and DR's 23* chip, 23#'s of boost. If I could get traction a 11.7 or would be easy.

Rear brakes, Cottons sells S-10 upgraded wheel cylinders and soft rear shoes, about $100 total. Can launch at 10 to 15 psi boost off the foot brake if you want.

Front brakes I really like the Morse Ceramics from Autozone, $45, very little dust also. You can get new calipers after core trade-in for $15 each, and new front rubber brake lines for $11 each. So there's about $100 for the front end. Been a good investment for my cars.
'83 - '88 Non power brake system. Raybestos part #WC37644. They have a 7/8" bore vs. a 3/4" bore for the power brake application(wheel cylinders)

I would be less concerned about your launch at the moment, and more concerned over where your other 70hp is. You should be trapping 113+ with that much boost.

thanks for the info i didnt know the wheel cylinders was bigger then the regals....also if u wanted to u could use the mopar master cylinder from a truck it has a 1 1/8 bore and will bolt on in place of the stock master.

ya you can do what all these guys say even tho i havent read it but my advice to run 11s is simple, buy an 11 sec car or buy a 9 sec car and dont go hard down the track or ride in an 11 sec car i guess

Exactly - your where a stock turbo should be mph wise.

Time to do a once over on the car - check everything, I'd even do a leak down test.

Why are you running race gas and alky - total over kill and not helping you. Pick one or the other - my car goes 11.7@117.55 with a simular combo on alky with a low 1.8 short time.

1. You don't need an insane launch - it just trashes the car. Unless you hate your car, be content to leave at 5 PSI.

2. Yup, you don't need alky and 110 - at the strip I suggest you use the latter.

3. Sure sounds like somethings wrong with your wastegate set-up if you have to put a gazillion turns into the thing to get just a bit more boost.

4. Your car is underperforming - straighten it out before you throw any more parts at it - you ought to be able to go 115 with that car right now

I was concerned about the 107 trap also. When I tune with a Gtech I usually trap at 117mph. I was suprised with the dropoff. I know they are not that accurate but that is alot. Where should I look for the power loss. I do have a 95000 mile trans, could that be a problem? Otherwise the car runs great.
