I think you need more room.
Better pull the hood off and remove the fenders....;)

Upper control arms might have to come out too...:D

OK, the control arms, trunk lid and fenders will come off tonight. Am I forgetting anything? I will check on the muffler bearing; it was not in my budget. Where is Lou when I need him!

Jeff,

What you need to do is pull the seats out then the dash & steering column. The motor should come through the firewall and into the cockpit with little to no effort at all. Then roll it to either side driver or pass then just hoist out. It's that easy! ;)

PS: The trunk will need to be removed for ventilation while pulling the motor, wheels and tires should be removed to prevent rolling plus it's just safer to have your investment that closer to the ground when dropping $parts$ tools etc..

I hope this helps.

You forgot to tell him to roll the driver window down but remove the passenger door (makes it easier to roll motor out from the seat) along with the front windshield for more adequate fumes Ventilation, we don't want him to die of carbon monoxide inhalation while the motor is idling, oh and yeah taking the tires off will bring the car down close to ground thus preventing major damage to the pan just in case you drop the motor. I think will do it.

taking it out is the easy part, wait til you hafta put it back, you may need a forklift:)

If you pour gasoline on it and set it a-blaze the wiring and the vacuum lines are much easier to deal with.

Thank you Sen Sai. So I will just leave the engine in place and lift the car over it. That should avoid all legal issues.

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff

my idea of cleaning the engine compartment meant to wipe off the grease on the dip stick, now you go over board, and clean everything, next you'll pull the oil pan to clean the inside,
got your ph call, been sick w/ flu, so been sleeping some,
interesting on your observations on your visit to rice world,
that should shake up the troops some,LOL
I have some walmart spray paint if you wanna paint the car, you think 5 cans will be enough?:D
let me know if you need any help, I'll see if Reggie can spare some time LOL LOL
Merry Xmas!!

Jeff, i think you're catchin on, leave the engine in place and remove everything around it:)

You guys arent serious are you? There is an easier way to change the oil. Just jack it up from the front and let it drain down.

If you do need to replace the muffler bearings, pay the extra and get the water cooled, double ball bearing ones. The only bummer is having to run the coolant lines all the way to the back of the car.:D

Geeeeez almost forgot....
Hope it's not too late....

Be very...VERY....careful around the high beam fluid reservior. If you punch a hole in that thing, you are S-C-R-E-W-E-D in both the metric and standard positions.
They don't make those things any more and the aftermarket is not supporting either.
