it was a pretty strait foward installation, the power plate seemed real easy but the intercooler didnt want to go back in..

but after i got everything situated i fired her up. and of course she has to give me the attitude of 'SES' light.. the engine was 'idling' at (on the factory tach) 3250-3750 rpm's. i unplugged the ECM and tryed it again, but the it came right back up and did the same thing..

the only things that i can think of that went wrong during the installation today was when i disconnected the TPS sensor, the snap on it broke off, but its still connected, i zip tied it on there, really tight... and the other thing is that the intercooler hoses looked pretty bad...

my friend just showed up and asked me how the hole thing went today... and i showed him what the car was doing, let it run for like 30 seconds and killed, it.. then when we stepped back the driver side tale pipe was smoking..

anyone have any ideas? i already tryed the throttle cable idea, but that doesnt work... and i dont know any one who has a mobil scanners, except for the one i have at work, but i am not allowed to leave with that, and i dont want to drive my car....

any thing?

Did you plug the IAC back in (square plug in the front and under the opening on the throttle body)

Are the intercooler hoses bad enough to let "pirate" air in (aka: vacuum leak)?

yes i plugged the IAC back in, i dont think they are bad enough to let pirate air in...

and because im a little slow i dont exactly get how the flashes works? i read that and i dont exactly get it  i talked to my boss and hes going to let me borrow a scanner tomorrow

well i just tryed the paper clip trick and it kept flashing code 12.. well i will see what the scanner has to say... but what i did to the TPS sensor, should that make a difference?

thanks

did the tps get knocked out of position drasticly? i did a iac relocator when i did the pp and when i had the t-body and plenum off i musta nudged the tps sensor and it was way off.

i dont know, i had the plenum off and i did clean it? i guess i will know if its off when i take the scanner to it?

might be a good time move up that scanmaster on the "things to do list". youd be surprised how a tiny little nudge can throw that tps off.

Did you un-bolt the TPS sensor from the throttle body when you cleaned everything? If you did NOT un-bolt it, then it is NOT out of adjustment.

Code 12 is "Missing Reference Pulses". According to the Scanmaster instrucitons, the typical cause is "engine not running". This is weird.

Post back about the TPS question I just asked.

ah i started another thread about it... this is what the scanner said....

RPM... 1775
O2 (mV)... 916
Integrator... 128 (whats this?)

Codes 24 & 22

24 - No Vechicle Speed Signal recived
22 - TPS to low

Closed Loop
Exhaust oxygen... Rich
TPS... .20
Block Learn... 105
IAC Postion... 61
A/F Learned... No
Load/CUS... 36
MAF (gm/sec)... 11
Spark Advance... 47
O2 Crosscounts... 0-3 (for some reason i think i wrote that down wrong)
Coolant (C)... 92
MAT (C)... 44
Proper Step... Lean
Prom ID... 8704
Knock... no
ESC counter... 0
EGR Duty (%)... 20
Vacuum at EGR... No
High PS Pressure... No
P/N Switch... -R-DL

can some one sort out this puddle of information? someone suggested a vaccum leak some where along the line...

thanks!

-neil

Your tps is too low at .20...it should be .42...you may have knocked it out of adjustment when installing the power plate.

Hi Neil,

I suggested the vacuum leak, but the first thing that jumps out at me from your info is the .2 TPS setting! That is WAY too low! I'd say it got moved somehow! Typically accepted values are .42-.48 at idle and 4.6-4.8 at WOT. It takes some doing to get it positioned to get these values correct, and it helps to have someone in the car-key on, engine off- so you can have them floor it then let off while you're underhood tinkering with the TPS.

I'd get the TPS set correctly, then disconnect the battery or ECM wire for a few seconds to clear the memory, reconnect, then start it back up and see what you get.

well i fixed the TPS and the SES light is gone now... but i must have a vacuum leak because the engine still revs its self really high, i mean probably well above two grand... and it slowly climbs up... i replaced the MAF hose and one of the up pipe hoses... (my friend had extras sitting in his garage that he didnt want), i noticed that one of the up pipe hoses looked like really bad, so i think that could be my problem, the only other thing i can think of is maybe one of the upper plenum gaskets is bad? does anyone know a part number for that gasket?

thanks
