man, it was such a stupid, simple problem i kinda feel like an idiot... Ian (wakkoSS) came over and checked it out, then he asked...

did you reset the idle screw?
what idle scew?
this one, the one under this rubber car (pulls off the cap and adjusts it)

problem gone.... i guess its good for me, that it was so simple, but i kinda feel dumb... oh well learning process right?

Thanks Ian!!!

thanks everyone else!

Totally part of the learning process. Always look under the rubber car first. ;)

I was surprised that the cleaning of the IC and the addition of the power plate would drastically change the idle like that. It was at about 12-1400 RPMs before we turned the idle down to normal.

Neil, how'd the car feel when you took it out and beat on it some?

it felt like it did before, i think it needs a good tuning, but anyways hopefully a scanmaster will be on the way soon... but my tranny is slipping again

the other day i rode in jasons car, with a stock tranny and it was shifting better than my car... does your car have the stock tranny in it? or not? if you have a shift kit i want to see how it feels, because im getting a little upset because my tranny guys cant get it right

-neil

Nah, my tranny was built before I got the car. Got a nice 'verter in it too. It used to chirp 2nd and 3rd before I got the drag radials...now it just launches like a frog in a catapult.

nuts, im really getting ticked off with this tranny, because its got a 2800 stall converter in it and its got a shift kit in it by a brand called 'superior', which ive never heard of? has anyone? im going to tell them to rip that shizie out and put in an art carr one of these days, but i figure i will let them to it there way for now until i get some stuff done to my car, mostly things like the fuel system and the gauges, who did you say made that adjustable regulator?

thanks

Mark Martone makes em. MixdupTR@hotmail.com I think. $65 or so.

I've got a TransGo shift kit for 2004Rs here. If you do anything with your tranny in the near future, it might be of use.

Hey Neil - it"s Terry

We trained a guy at our local tranny shop in Ft Myers to rebuild these and he is doing a great job. He already knew HOW to rebuild the stock tranny BUT NOT to race specs.

We got a complete hop up kit from the guy that owns PMAC in Texas I think. They have a new name now. IT was called a yo-yo kit or something like that. He will know what I mean.
We gave Mark the kit and parts and he read all the instructions and learned that way. He just rebuilt SWFLGN's tranny and he has done mine. Write Mike at SWFLGN (just posted to the FL section) and see how he likes the job. I also put a Fairbanks billet servo in mine and it will squeel 275 60 15 Nittos DR's in 2nd but it does downshift harder than usual.

Just some thoughts - train your guy to do it RIGHT then we will all have someone over here to depend on if we need it. That's why we trained Mark. Mike (SWFLGN) can give you Mark's number (he works for a tranny shop in Ft Myers) if you want to pick his brain. Lots of tricks to know like drilling out certain holes if up upgrade the front pump so it won't blow a front seal out.

for some reason i dont think that i can train this old dog to do new tricks, i think he is pretty set on his ways... if i had the extra money, i think i would just try and get a core 200R4 and do it my self... but i need some one to train me.... well anyways... i want some one who knows these cars well to ride in my car and tell me what they feel about it..

thanks
