Found a great one

I was looking for one as well not to long ago. Same basic needs, I want enough to run at least two air guns at once, All the tools, sanders included. I also was considering a unit from home depot. Until a friend of mine pointed me to a Farmers store. I'm almost positive the name was Tactor tool and Supply company. They sell Ingersol Rand units, I got a great stand up unit, 220V for under 500.00. Excellent unit lots of power, never run out of air, great company to buy from. Very happy.

If you can locate compressor elsewhere,do it.box it in to hide noise.Plus it will stay cleaner and you can still listen to radio.

6HP 60 gal is enough for two tools but not two sanders/or wheels running. if you do put it in a box make sure the air intake has fresh air. You will overheat the head on hot days otherwise. 6HP devbliss at farm and barn was 375 when I bought mine.

I agree. After living with mine in the garage for some time, I relocated it to the basement and plumbed the air up to the garage with galvanized pipe. Much better.

I have a 6HP with a 30 gallon tank. It keeps up (but runs a lot) with a single sander. It wouldn't do too well with two sanders.

Thanks for the replys. I really need it on wheels so I narrowed it down to three. Is a belt driven that much quieter than a direct drive?

Home depot $377 Belt Driven A solid CAST IRON, twin cylinder compressor pump for extreme durability. Offers 135 PSI maximum pressure and air delivery 6.6/5.8 SCFM @ 40/90 PSI. Lowes Kobalt® Belt Driven $388

Which would you get?

a 30 gal wont keep up with 1 large rotary tool running constantly for very long. And if its loud  . Go with the largest tank you can. Id say 45-50gal min. If you go with the ones you listed the one that list good to me is the home depot....?

I would say the Home Depot one, too. Mine is from Home Depot and has the cast iron cylinders. At the time they offered a horizontal (30 gal) and vertical (more gal, but not sure how much more). I got the horizontal because I wanted to wheel it around. Now that it's permanently mounted, if I were to do it again I'd have gone with the vertical tank. It's about 10 years old and I haven't had to do a thing to it. I check the oil once in a while and that's about it.

The belt driven is a lot more quiet than the direct drive - my dad has a direct drive that is unbearably loud. I don't even like to work around the thing, nevermind try to hear the radio or have a conversation.

I have an Ingersoll Rand very similar to the one pictured above. Mine is 220V 6.5 hp 60 gallon tank. It will keep up with anything I throw at it, but I haven't run more than one tool at a time on it. I got lucky and bought mine for a very good price from my brother after he figured out it was too small to run his shop.
