Hi everyone, about a few months ago i specifically remember using my AC on a few occasions. The summer before that was an everyday occurence to have the AC running at all times. Then one day it just all stopped. Now when i turn the "AC" on it blows pure hot air. There was no sign of weakening "coldness." Is that usually how the systems stop working? I am no expert on this topic so that is why i am posting. Please if there are things I can check and limit out before i shuffle out the big bucks to replace the unit in my car. Thanks in advance fellas.

get a guage to test the pressure and see how much you have - also check to make sure your compressor is engaging when you turn on the AC-it wont if you dont have enough freon.

Is the Hot/Cold lever working as it should?
There's also a valve under the hood by the firewall on the passenger side.
Had to replace mine.

Found Something Out

Under my hood with the engine running just now i found that the valve is extremely corroded but rusty indeed. It goes up and down when i adjust the temp dial from hot to cold and cold to hot. That being said i turned the car off and noticed the pipe over in the back behind that cylindrical canister by the #6 spark plug...The pipe that actually goes down and comes up and toward the passenger fender...It was frozen! literally frozen...it had snow and ice all over it....I am literally talking Ice. The compressor clutch engages perfectly while idling and shuts off maybe one every 2-3 minutes for about 5-10 seconds but still that pipe over by the firewall is DAMN FROZEN!!!! WTF is up with that?!?! I wanna say that the valve is broken on the inside maybe and is causing coolant to flow through it through the heater core? am i on the right track or am i just guessing stupidly? What does this sound like to you guys?! thanks guyss!! i believe we are closer to the fix!

Found The Problem

The valve that blocks the coolant off to the heater core was broken inside despite the lever's position on the outside!!! Rerouted it back to the cooling system bypassing the heater core and now i have COLD FRIGGIN AIR! thanks guys! by the way what is the part number for that valve!? Thanks in advance
