Well... Being the nutjob I am I put 2 and 2 together... I was playing with my R/C car and read the fuel bottle... 20% Nitromethane, 70% Methanol, 10% Lubricant.... Hmmmm Well the lowest lubricant you can get is 10%, but the nitro content can vary from 10%-65%.... So before you shoot me down as a nut hear me out!
So, Methanol injection not only cools the charge, but the methanol also boost the gasoline's octane rating(alcohol=around 120+ octane)... Well Nitromethane in moderation also has a stabilizing effect on the charge. A 90/10 alky to nitro mix is incredibly stable and can be run in VERY extreme engines(like 25:1 r/c care engines... .21ci puts out 3HP!)... Now I doubt it would be as simple as dropping in a quart of r/c car fuel and hitting the road, but with some tuning I wonder if there would be any effects? You would need to add more alky/nitro into the charge because alcohol and nitromethan both have significantly less energy per unit(alcohol has 1/2 the energy potential per untit gasoline dose, and nitromethane has even less).
So what do you guys think? Crank up the alky/nitro mix, and possibly see a gain, or am I grasping at straws? Also, the guys as Conleys didnt laugh at me when I mentioned this, they said a customer with a cobra has tried it an said it spiced up his ride quite a bit... now they may have been just bull****ting with me(I just signed a huge check to them), but what do yall think?
