I am ready to install my alky kit and was told to let the inlet filter inside the engine bay. The hotter the inlet temperature the better the alky works is this true? I am guessing that the higher the inlet temperature the more alky will drop it but it would still be better to cool 65 degree inlet temp. to 60 degrees than 200 degree inlet temp. to 100 degree. I know this are not the correct temp.s just using as an example.

Who told you that? Sounds kinda screwy! On a N/A car, the IAT sensor would be fairly accurate; on a motor with an IC, having the IAT before the IC tells the ECM the ambient air temp, but not the temp of the air entering the motor.

Truth be told, it's better to have the IAT in the up-pipe, because that's the true temp of the air feeding the motor.

At 80 MPH the inlet temp is ambient.

Non-issue.

Razor,

I want to make sure I understand your comment. Are you saying that at 80 mph that the air under the hood is the same as ambient?

Look at the MAT number on your scantool. Easy
